About the Artist
Sung Hee KIM is a mother of 4 children and a dog, who started her art career to make herself and people around the world happy. To do so, she tries to understand agony and joy for them to be reinterpreted through nature. Trees, flowers, birds, and boats are the biggest inspiration to her works as well as a comfortable chair that always suggests a place to think.
Sung Hee KIM’s childhood living in three different countries; South Korea, Japan, and the U.K., affected her artworks. Her love of nature and the spirit of harmony in her artworks are from her experience of traveling around these countries. Her international childhood also made her more open-minded in her approaches. She uses various materials in mixture from pastels, pens, crayons, acrylic paints, and watercolours to unique tools like cotton buds and toothpicks.
Adapting new technologies is as important as experimenting with diverse methods. Sung Hee KIM’s drawings are digitally transformed to be explored in another dimension. Her digital artworks are available in Giclée prints on paper or acrylic prints. She also adds a final touch with acrylic paints and powders for her digital paintings which are printed on different surfaces such as archival papers, canvas, carpet, linen, and more.
Sung Hee KIM is also open to licensing and collaborations. She has been selling various art goods including masks, art bags, phone cases, notebooks, and pouches at her exhibition and through personal channels. She also has licensed six of her artworks to an art company in Shanghai, China. Her art posters are sold at 10 shops in Nanjing and Shanghai since January 2021. Her recent collaboration with the Bluebell Group for the 2023 calendar also had great feedback from various designer brands in the world.
Sung Hee KIM’s artworks make herself happy. She very much hopes you could find your own light of happiness through her artworks.
